You have probably heard us talking about Papier16 over the past several weeks and may have guessed, we are pretty excited about it. The fair began last night with a ceremonious VIP evening and officially opened to the public today. Station 16 Gallery is honored to be featured alongside the many galleries showing at this fair. In true Station 16 style, we are always pushing things a little bit further and have some AMAZING new pieces to show you! Among several new pieces on display in our booth (J03!) by artists Alan Ganev, Laurence Vallières, Stikki Peaches, Whatisadam, Peter Andrew, Cope2, Enzo Sarto (and many more), we are introducing for the first time in Montreal the artist duo ASVP.
ASVP is an artist duo based in Brooklyn, New York. Their work is, to put it simply, gorgeous. On display at Papier16 is a series titled Make Your Own Luck, comprised of eight original silkscreen prints. These pieces are all one-offs and entirely unique.
Included in the eight original prints are two different variations of four images: the ladybug, the rabbit`s foot, the wishbone, and the crossed fingers (titled Crossed Kiss).
ASVP’s work has been featured internationally in auction houses and galleries including; Doyle New York’s Annual Contemporary Sale, the 2015 Art Basel Festival in Switzerland and most recently at Dallas Contemporary. Recent commissions include Swedish music streaming giant, Spotify, hiring the team to create 25 large-scale murals for the organization’s 97,000 sq. ft. NYC headquarters and an invitation from French fashion designer / artist, agnès b. to collaborate on a limited collection of co-branded garments. The team recently completed large-scale outdoor works for Columbia College's Wabash Arts Corridor in Chicago, and a 70' mural commissioned by the city of Basel, Switzerland.
The print series will be on display all weekend at our booth at Papier16, located at Hangar 16 on the Quai de l`Horloge in the Old Port. Be sure to stop by to check out these incredible pieces and say hi! We`ll be there until 9:00 this evening, from 11:00 to 7:00 Saturday, and 11:00 to 6:00 Sunday.
Here is a little sneak peak into ASVP`s studio. It`s always nice to see where the magic happens.
