July 1st is the official moving day for Montreal dwellers. Every year on this date, old mattresses, tv's and appliances find themselves on Montreal sidewalks. It's been this way since I can remember. Then last year I noticed something different ; beautiful calligraphy and heartfelt messages appearing on a discarded television set, or a piece of wood. This is Garbage Beauty. They have since gone on to create their art on multiple surfaces and beyond just on moving day. Now you'll never know when you'll come across one of their messages in Montreal, but one thing is for sure... where there is garbage, they will find beauty.
